My Best Show was "Side by Side by Sondheim"
I played one of two grand piano's on stage with a cast of 4 people.
Only 2 weeks of practice, they were professionals from Chicago,
came in with their music and lines memorized.  A great show that
almost nobody saw.  I had a great time though and learned a lot.
I think my worst show was "Miss Liberty".  I knew it was a terrible
show, add a terrible cast, mediocre musicians, it wasn't a surprise.
I think the shows I had the most fun in were (in no particular order):
Best Little Whorehouse in Texas- because of the "band" of course,
Little Shop of Horrors, Godspell- my 3rd time, High School Musical-
because of Alison, Titanic- that might be hard for Brian to believe,
Anything Go's- my first show at age 17
My best student director was Kristen Kelley from Indiana.  She was like
having an adult who knew as much as I did, and made me listen.  She also
sang like an angel.  One of my hardest days was finding out that she had
died from a short battle with leukemia a few years ago.  I still miss her.
My best student directors in Ohio, and very close to Kristen were Natalie
Schwarz & Kelly Bowman.  It took them a while to understand me, but
they helped put on amazing shows.  Love you Kelly & Nat!  The most
interesting student director was Will.  He had his own way of doing
things.  Mostly, I liked him because he drove Brian nuts.
My best directing job was "JEKYL & HYDE"(New choice)
My best theatre buddies are my mentor and friend Bob Sizemore,
and my conscience & ego/attitude adjuster and friend Brian Swank.
Without either of them, I would not be putting on shows.  Others are
Mike, Larry, Chris, Becky, and probably my most trusted and loyal
student/teacher/friend, Gina.  This group has put up with me, taught
me, laughed and cried with me, but has always been my inspiration.
Here are a few pictures:
I am most proud of:  My family, Greg, Todd, & Amelya who have put
up and encouraged me in doing this all these years.  Also the
2007-08 Jetsetters who overcame terrible tragedy in our family to put
on our best show in Ohio, and have an amazing winter tour, grow
together, and realize what is truly important in life.  I am very proud of
all of the students I have had both at Richmond High School in
Indiana from 1984-1993, and at Alliance High School from 1994- 2009.
The talent has been amazing, the work ethic strong, and the love of
theatre contagious.  It has been a wonderful time in my life.  I'm also
very very proud to have known, taught, and been friends with Kim,
Kristin, Beth, Summer, Susie, JoAnn, and Alison.  They have all
enriched my life greatly.
My scariest moments in a show:  Watching Amanda Brown soar
over the audience as Peter Pan, and even touching the ceiling one
show.  Hoping the Titanic would lift up and sink while not breaking
apart with 20 kids on board.  Sergio holding Jon over the audience 3
stories high with one hand.  My first Annie set balcony that built
using paint risers with 25 little kids on it.  Wondering if Nina was
going to make her entrance on cue?
(I feel the need to edit this one
since she is going to NYC and might become a star someday, but for
now, I'll leave it In :)
MORE TO COME~
My worst moment was finding out about Alison Draves accident and
later telling my students that she had died.  She will always be in my
heart and memory.  What a sweetheart!
New Stuff:  Nina and Samantha studying Theatre in NYC, Kara
studying Opera, Sara studying Theatre at KSU - I am a very proud
teacher this year (2008) I wish you all the very best as you follow
your heart.  Apologies to Brian as i directed J & H.  We were all under
stress, but no excuses.  I am so happy my bud saw me through the
darkness, (but WHAT A SET & SHOW!)  Sometimes i think i've been
doing this too long and its time to go, then a year like this one
happened.  Through the absolute worst time in our life and onward
with such a tremendous year, I guess I'll come back for one more.
The beginning of a new school year is always exciting.  I come back
to many new faces, know there will be a lot of exciting new talent.
Its a fresh start, for me and those returning students who are "sad"
some of their friends are gone, but "excited" that their will be more
opportunities for them.  I feel the same way.  Many changes in my
personal life in 2009, but new vistas await.
Time to pick a show (LOL)
